Lulu Krakauer is a multidisciplinary artist based in Southern California, known for her vibrant, nature-inspired paintings and experimental printmaking. Born and raised in Bolinas, a small coastal town in Northern California, Lulu grew up immersed in a community of artists, writers, and creatives. In a place where few people held “conventional” jobs, creativity was not only encouraged—it was a way of life.
She studied International Relations at UC Santa Barbara, but her passion for art remained a constant. A self-taught painter and printmaker, Lulu spent the past decade working professionally as a Photographer. Now, as a wife and mother of two young children, she has returned to art with a renewed sense of purpose and creative freedom.
Lulu’s work is informed by her travels and deeply rooted in her love of the natural world. She works primarily with acrylic on linen and paper, and explores alternative photographic techniques such as cyanotypes using sunlight to expose her photos. Her process blends spontaneity with intention, often drawing from the landscapes around her—especially the coastal beauty of California.
Currently, Lulu is developing a series that captures the essence of Southern California’s iconic surf destinations, celebrating their light, movement, and timeless allure.
Following a recent brain surgery, Lulu emerged with a profound sense of clarity: life is too short not to do what you love. With this perspective, she approaches her work with boldness, gratitude, and an unwavering desire to create beauty. Sempre avanti
